Rainbow Mermaids 6-2 Victors Over New Orleans
|
Northern Virginia pitcher Chris Jackson had a large part in his team subduing the New Orleans Voodoo, 6-2. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. The loss puts New Orleans at 9-10.
Tied up with the Voodoo in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Rainbow Mermaids got a boost from designated hitter José Mondragon. With a runner on 2nd, Mondragon saw a full count fastball from Alfredo Maldonado and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Northern Virginia on top, 1-0.
Mondragon said his team "played with a purpose."
