Billy Goats Win at Pittsburgh, 4-3
|
Colorado pitcher Sloppy Thurston had a large part in his team beating the Pittsburgh Kingfishers, 4-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Ron Jewell earned his 10th save, after closing out the game. Colorado is now 45-33, Pittsburgh 44-34.
Colorado used the timely hitting of Jeff Hines to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Billy Goats on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Colorado manager Mack Kilkeary praised his team's "energy."
