Toronto Pins 4-3 Loss on Philadelphia
|
A strong performance from pitcher Al Ivey was not enough for the Philadelphia Liberty, who were stopped by the visiting Toronto Thunder, 4-3, in Game 2 of the ToC First Round. The Thunder never truly figured out the left-handed Ivey, who threw 7.1 innings of 6-hit ball. Still, the Thunder now hold a 2-0 in the best-of-5 series.
Had Steven Dean not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Dean hit a 2-run double. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Thunder.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Toronto manager Jordan Smith.
Game 3 is scheduled for Monday at Liberty Park in Philadelphia.
