The St. Louis Coeur started the ToC First Round in style, winning on the road against the New Orleans Voodoo at The Voodoo Lounge by a score of 9-2 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Coeur right fielder Chia-ch'ing Chen excelled. He went 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3.

A key moment came with two out in the top of the third. That's when Chen hit a fastball from Alex Thompson for a 2-run home run, putting St. Louis up, 2-0.

"We didn't help ourselves, it's as simple as that," said losing manager Chase Sims.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at The Voodoo Lounge in New Orleans.
