Thunder Clip Patriots, 3-2, in R2 Contest
|
A strong performance from pitcher Nick Hensley was not enough for the Boston Patriots, who were stopped by the visiting Toronto Thunder, 3-2, in Game 3 of the ToC Semi-Finals. The Thunder never truly figured out the left-handed Hensley, who threw 6.1 innings allowing 2 runs. Still, the Thunder now hold a 2-1 in the best-of-5 series.
Had Jim McDavid not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 1st, McDavid hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Thunder.
McDavid said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Thunder Field in Toronto.
