García, Toledo Open R2 Strong with 4-2 Win
|
If the New Orleans Voodoo were expecting the pressure of the playoffs to get to Rodrigo García, they underestimated the old man.
The Toledo Stingers got a strong start from the 37-year-old right-hander. García threw 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball as Toledo won the contest, 4-2, at Pacesetter Park to take the lead in their best-of-5 series with the Voodoo. The Stingers now lead 1-0.
Had Viet Long not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Long hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-2, in favor of the Stingers.
García called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Pacesetter Park in Toledo.
