Smalls, Stingers Wallop Coeur in Game 3 of R2
|
Riding the 2-hit performance of center fielder Elijah Smalls, the Toledo Stingers got a road win against the St. Louis Coeur, 8-1, in Game 3 of the ToC Semi-Finals. Smalls was 2 for 5 with 2 home runs, while adding 6 RBI and scoring twice for the Stingers, who now lead the best-of-5 series, 3 games to 0.
The game was all tied up in the top of the eighth, until Smalls delivered big-time for Toledo, stroking a dramatic 3-run home run off Dave Farmer. The game-changing hit put the Stingers on top, 4-1.
Coeur manager Scott McMahon did not take questions after the game, telling assembled reporters that he would hold a press conference "if and when we win the United States Premier League Championship."
