The 3-hit performance of Gerald Hartnell, who is tied for 10th in the SL in extra base hits with 31, helped the Mexico City Blue Demons beat the Long Island Lighthouse, 7-2. The winner in relief was Dennis Singleton. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 3.2 innings. He now owns a record of 1-0. The defeat makes Long Island 45-34.
Ángel Soto, the Mexico City second baseman, contributed a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fifth inning to make the score 3-2, Blue Demons. For the game, Soto was 2-4 with 2 singles.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Soto told the Mexico City Daily.
