Boston Win Evens Series at 3
|
The Boston Patriots and the Toledo Stingers will take the Tournament of Champions to a decisive 7th game. In a must-win situation, the Patriots beat the Stingers, 7-5, at Pacesetter Park to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Boston third baseman Bill Meeks went 4-4 with a double and 3 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Dave Powell? The Boston second baseman had a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Patriots on top, 3-0. For the game, Powell had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Nice win for us," said Meeks. "Now we'll go after the next one."
Game 7 is scheduled for Tuesday at Dunkin Donuts Park in Boston.
