Boston Wins at Home to Take 3-2 Lead in R2
|
The Boston Patriots moved to within one game of the Tournament of Champions, downing the visiting Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids at Dunkin Donuts Park by a score of 5-3. Patriots left-hander Tai sun Rang had a strong outing in which he threw 5.0 innings of 4-hit ball. The win gives the Patriots a 3-2 advantage in the best-of-5 ToC Semi-Finals.
An inflection point occurred with one out in the bottom of the third. That's when Patriots designated hitter Gilberto Silva hit a splitter from José Hernández for a 2-run home run. Just like that, Boston was up, 2-1.
"I went out and just tried to do my job," said Rang.
