Leave it to the veteran.
The Buffalo White Walkers got a great start from 34-year-old left-hander Volmer Aalbers, as Buffalo won the contest, 5-3, at The Voodoo Lounge. Aalbers threw 6.0 innings of 4-hit ball in the win, which allowed the Buffalo to grab a 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series.
Octávio Cruz dealt the Voodoo a blow in the top of the fourth. Batting with the bases loaded and Buffalo leading 3-1, Cruz, who led the PL in wins above replacement with 4.7 last year, hit a 0-2 fastball for a 2-run single.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Buffalo manager Chris Lau.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at The Voodoo Lounge in New Orleans.
