Memphis Absorbs 5-4 Loss to Pittsburgh
|
The Pittsburgh Kingfishers knocked off the Memphis Mockingbirds, 5-4, in United States Silver League action at Magnolia Park. Pittsburgh pitcher and Honolulu, Hawaii, native Richard Miller had an outstanding performance. With the win, the Kingfishers have a record of 41-40.
The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Carlos Rivera came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Memphis pitcher David Thornton, he hit a 2-2 slider for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Pittsburgh on top, 5-4.
"Richard pitched his heart out," said Pittsburgh manager Tyler Johnson.
