In a low-scoring affair between the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids and the Toronto Thunder, pitcher Kip Hill was the difference between victory and defeat. The Northern Virginia left-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-2 Rainbow Mermaids win. Hill yielded 2 runs over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 5, and struck out 3. His record improves to 2-2. The Rainbow Mermaids, now 5-15, have not found much traction so far in 2062.

The result might have been different, had it not been for 23-year old catcher Harvey Thomas. Thomas had a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Rainbow Mermaids ahead, 3-1. For the game, Thomas had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Toronto manager Jordan Smith. "But we decided not to take it."
