Lakers Snatch Late-Game, 4-3 Win
|
Kelsey Tate had a good game, but he could not keep the Pittsburgh Kingfishers from falling, 4-3, to the Echo Park Lakers at Pittsburgh Grounds. The Pittsburgh first baseman was 3 for 4 with 2 home runs in the loss. Echo Park reliever Conor March was the winner. His record is now 5-5. The losing pitcher was Jeff Thompson. Brendan Fulton recorded the save, his 23rd.
Echo Park used the timely hitting of Orlando Gonzáles to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Lakers on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Echo Park manager Jordan Calhoun.
Echo Park now owns a record of 46-38.
