Philadelphia parlayed a decent outing from starter Al Ivey into a solid win over the Pittsburgh Kingfishers. The final score was 5-4. Philadelphia reliever Dick Hill picked up the win, raising his record to 4-3. Luis Rojas was tagged with the loss. Jorge Montoya was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 21 of 24 save opportunities.
Philadelphia took control in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, Loflinger Theissen hit a run-scoring single to make it 5-4, Liberty.
"A confident pitcher is a dangerous thing," said Philadelphia manager Geoff Matt. "That's what Al is right now."
The 6th-place Liberty have a record of 45-40.
