Rock City Walk It Off for 30th Win of Season
|
The Detroit Rock City did just enough to sneak past the Montana Pandas, 5-4, at Detroit Stadium. Detroit pitcher José Martínez, in particular, had a standout performance. The winner was Juan Sánchez in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Gene Greene took the loss. The Rock City now have a record of 30-56.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth, an error by the Pandas allowed the Rock City to score the winning run.
"This place was rocking at the end," Hunter said.
