Echo Park Bats Go Silent in 1-0 Loss
|
Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Colorado Billy Goats and the Echo Park Lakers. Colorado won it, 1-0. Colorado starter Alfredo Pérez was in command. In 7.2 innings, Pérez surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 0. He allowed no runs. Ron Jewell collected his 11th save.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Billy Goats had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the top of the fourth, when right fielder Jeff Hines hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Naohiro Ueno and made the score 1-0, Billy Goats. Hines went 1 for 4.
Said Echo Park manager Jordan Calhoun: "When you don't score, it's never a good thing."
With the win, Colorado goes to 49-38, while the Lakers fall to 48-39.
