The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids took New Orleans pitcher Al Hussey's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Atlantica. The final score had Northern Virginia getting past the Voodoo, 5-4. Hussey went 7 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 5. The defeat makes New Orleans 9-11.

The game came to an abrupt end with two out in the bottom of the tenth. On a pitch from Anthony Bailey, Harvey Thomas drew a walk, driving in 1 run. It gave Northern Virginia the 5-4 win.

"It's great when the crowd is energized," Thomas said.
