Mockingbirds Knock Off Liberty at Liberty Park

In a low-scoring contest between the Memphis Mockingbirds and the Philadelphia Liberty, Fernando Lujino, who finished 4th in the SL in strikeouts with 144 in 2044, proved to be the difference. The Memphis right-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-1 Mockingbirds win. Lujino picked up the win for Memphis, going 8 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 5-8. David Thornton earned his 12th save, after closing out the game.
Harvey Bush had a direct impact on the outcome. Bush contributed a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning to put Memphis up, 2-0.
"I didn't leave too many pitches out over the plate," said Lujino.
The 9th-place Mockingbirds sport a record of 37-53.
