Big Day for Smalls in 9-5 Stingers Win
|
Elijah Smalls had a 4-RBI game, during Toledo's 9-5 triumph over the Vancouver Grey Wolves. Smalls contributed 2 singles and 1 home run to the cause. Ed Fox, now 5-3, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. The Stingers, now 53-38, have won 4 in a row.
In the bottom of the sixth, Toledo third baseman Daniel Webster gave his team the lead. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, Secretary of State hit his 18th home run of the year. Vancouver pitcher Ray Stevenson surrendered it. With that, the Stingers jumped in front, 7-5.
"We're playing like we're capable of," said Toledo manager David Bunting.
