Mockingbirds Get Nifty 8-5 Win
The Memphis Mockingbirds beat the Panama City Piranhas, 8-5, at The Tank. The win was due in part to catcher Carlos Gómez, who went 3 for 5 with 3 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The winner was Ricardo Ramírez in relief. His record improves to 1-2. Min Der took the loss. The save was credited to David Thornton, his 13th.

Gómez had an important at-bat with runners on 2nd and 3rd in the top of the eighth, when he hit a 2-run single. The Mockingbirds went on to win.

"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Memphis manager Beau Carsten.
