Mockingbirds Lose to Rainbow Mermaids, 7-3
|
Good production from right fielder Michaelsoft Binbows helped the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids topple the Mississippi Mockingbirds, 7-3. Binbows was 3-5 with 3 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Rainbow Mermaids. Bob Kelso, who is tied for 4th in the SL in complete games with 1, was the winning pitcher. Over 7.1 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 12 hits, with no walks and 5 strikeouts. Northern Virginia improves to 54-37 with the win. They lead their division by 5 games.
With Northern Virginia leading 2-0 in the bottom of the second, Binbows hit a 2-run single off Mississippi hurler Alex Thompson. It was the 90th hit of the season for Binbows and put his team ahead, 4-0.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Binbows.
