Going, Going, Gone! Mangione Hits 3 Homers Monday, July 11th , 2061 The old superstition that "bad news comes in threes" certainly came true for the Toledo Stingers. Seattle second baseman Luigi Mangione tripled up on the home runs to propel the Rocketeers to a win, 12-3, at Boeing Dome. "We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn't come through," Toledo manager David Bunting said. "Mangione hit the heck out of the ball." In addition to the homers, Mangione collected 4 hits in 5 at-bats, 9 RBIs and scored 3 runs. "Easy swings get you home runs," he said after the game. "I kept telling myself not to press. They have to be nice and easy swings." Luigi Mangione hit a solo-shot off Jorge Souza in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Jorge Souza in the 3rd, hit a two-run single in the 4th, flied out in the 6th and hit a GRAND SLAM off Dave Hanna in the 8th. Thus far this season, Mangione has hit .369 with 11 home runs, 31 RBIs and scored 22 times. |
