Thunder End Veeck Streak Thursday, July 21st , 2061 It was a doubly miserable day for Chris Veeck of the New Orleans Voodoo, as he saw his 20-game hitting streak end and his team lose, 2-1, to the Toronto Thunder at Thunder Field. The 21-year-old right fielder was held hitless in 4 at-bats by the Thunder. "Anyone on a 20-game hitting streak is going to be a tough out," Toronto manager Jordan Smith said later. "But we had a plan and we were careful about it, and got it done." This year, Veeck has hit 9 home runs and posted a .297 batting average. |
