Vargas Swats 3 Homers Thursday, August 11th , 2061 Rubén Vargas brutalized the Seattle Rocketeers pitching staff, launching three home runs in the 6-0 New Orleans victory at Boeing Dome. The New Orleans Voodoo first baseman was red-hot, the ball just exploding off his bat all day. "I don't try to hit homers," he said later. "I try to go out there and put a good swing on the ball, and sometimes it is going to go out of the park. I didn't try to hit the first one or the second one or the third one." For the game, he went 4-for-5 with 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "Too much Rubén Vargas today," Rocketeers manager Andrew Powell said. "That's my assessment of the game. That's what our problems boiled down to." Rubén Vargas hit a solo-shot off Álex López in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Álex López in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off David Arnold in the 8th and struck out in the 9th.
