Hot Bat Cooled, Thomas Hitless Against Lighthouse Friday, July 3rd, 2043 Melvin Thomas saw his 25-game hitting streak wither and die today during the Charleston Battery win over Long Island at Charleston Armory. The 31-year-old third baseman was held hitless in 4 at-bats by the Long Island Lighthouse, but his teammates produced enough offense to take the game, 2-1. "Am I disappointed about the hit streak? Maybe, just a little bit," a seemingly upbeat Thomas told reporters in the clubhouse. "But really, how could you be unhappy after you hit in 25 straight games? I'm just glad it lasted as long as it did. Life is good." For the year Thomas has hit at a .345 clip with 28 RBIs, 7 home runs and 33 runs scored. |
