Gordon Befuddles Matlacha in 6-0 Rocky Mountain Win
Wednesday, June 6th , 2063
Joe Gordon of the Rocky Mountain Vibes was on top of his game.
The 24-year-old tantalized the Matlacha Manatees with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest, shutting them out, 6-0.
"He had the changeup working," Matlacha manager Howard Lee said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."
The Rocky Mountain hurler had 4 strikeouts, gave up 2 walks and surrendered 5 hits in his complete-game effort.
Gordon told reporters after the game that "keeping the ball down is the key to being successful in this league."
"If you don't do that, they'll make you pay," he said.
This season, Gordon shows a 2-1 record in 6 games, 33 innings, 20 strikeouts, and a 0.82 ERA.
