Alameda-Laredo Free-for-All Gets 5-Game Suspensions
Wednesday, June 15th , 2061
You would have thought you were at a hockey game yesterday at Alameda Field. A free-for-all broke out when Luis Vargas of Alameda and Pancho Rocha of Laredo rushed one another on the field and had to be restrained by umpires and teammates. Few blows landed, but it was enough for them to be ejected from the game.
Today both teams received notification from the league office that the two players would be suspended for 5 games.
So far this year, Vargas is batting .139 with 3 home runs, 5 RBIs and 7 runs scored.
For the year, Rocha has saved 2 games while posting an ERA of 3.07 and 13 strikeouts in 14.2 innings. His totals also include a 0-1 record in 11 relief appearances.
