League Suspends Zavala and Phipps for Brawl Thursday, July 14th , 2061 Rafael Zavala of Belleville and Michael Phipps of Matlacha were the main participants in a recent bench-clearing brawl and today the league handed out its punishment. Zavala will have to miss 4 games for his part in the brawl, while Phipps was given 8 games. League officials announced their suspensions today. This season, Zavala has delivered 28 hits in 164 at-bats for a .171 average with 3 home runs. He is getting on base at a .352 clip and his totals also include 18 RBIs and 21 runs scored. This year Zavala has played in 55 games. Phipps has made 12 relief appearances this year and notched 1 save. To date in 20.2 innings he has a 1-0 record, 1.74 ERA with 16 strikeouts and 10 walks. |
