Delmarva Dazzled, Best Hurls No-Hitter Monday, July 30th , 2063 Rocky Mountain Vibes starter Jake Best said he was standing behind the mound when the scoreboard caught his eye, confirming what he already knew: He was one out from a no-hitter. For a couple of seconds, he didn't move. "I took a breath and told myself 'This is the last one,'" Best recalled. The left-hander collected himself, got the final out, and finished one of the greatest performances of his career. The Rocky Mountain left-hander no-hit the Delmarva Gallos, 5-0, at Bellevue Field, finishing with 3 walks and 9 strikeouts, facing only 32 batters. "I knew for a while it was a no-hitter," Best admitted later. "But I really didn't worry about it until the last out. I thought I just wanted to win the game, and then I realized I wanted the no-hitter, too."
