5-Hit Barrage by De La Torre Wednesday, August 2nd , 2062 Some moments become linked with a particular player's career forever. Pedro De La Torre of the Laredo Hawks had one of those moments when he went 5-for-5 at the plate in his team's 8-1 win over the Pontiac Godfathers at Pontiac Copperdome. "I won't forget this anytime soon, and I don't expect it to happen too often," the 21-year-old left fielder told reporters in the postgame interview. "I'll be happy to just get a hit or two every day. Enough to hang around the league a while longer. Like 10, maybe 15 more years." Pedro De La Torre singled in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Joe Preston in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and hit a two-run double in the 8th.
