Mata Gets 5 Hits Saturday, August 11th , 2063 Even as a kid, Santos Mata said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Arryns Ballpark, Mata showed how well he learned that lesson. The 25-year-old center fielder had 5 hits in 6 at-bats for the Lake Erie Arryns, helping his team knock off the Yucca Valley Yellows by a score of 21-1. "They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did." Santos Mata doubled in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Pancho Lizalda in the 6th, singled in the 8th and flied out in the 8th.
