Valdés Dominates Grand Forks
Saturday, August 20th , 2061
Daniel Valdés bent a little, but he didn't break against the Grand Forks Caterpillars. The Yucca Valley Yellows pitcher hurled a 5-hit, 3-0 shutout in a fine performance, surrendering no walks and tallying 7 strikeouts.
"Daniel is good at getting out of jams," Yellows manager Ernest Orr told reporters after the game. "He's almost more effective when he gets guys on base or gets behind in the count, because he uses your aggressiveness against you."
This season, Valdés has made 23 relief appearances, pitched 64.1 innings and struck out 55 with a record of 2 wins and 5 losses. He has compiled a 3.08 ERA and saved 8 games.
