Romero Gets 4-0 Shutout
Thursday, August 23rd , 2057
It wasn't easy but the Smoky Mountain Hobeaus made it look that way.
Starter Steve Romero shut out the Columbia River Rats despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Smoky Mountain Hobeaus cruised to victory, 4-0. Romero allowed only 3 hits and rang up 8 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win.
"It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up."
This season, Romero has a 10-5 mark in 19 starts with a 1.76 ERA. He has given up 102 hits in 143.1 innings, struck out 138 and issued 24 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .199 batting average against him.
