Sánchez Packs a Wallop -- Hits 3 HR Against Yinzers Monday, July 20th , 2054 It was a good day for the Grand Forks Caterpillars and an exceptional one for Manny Sánchez. The 22-year-old catcher sent three bombs out of the park to help the Caterpillars beat the Monroeville Yinzers 13-6 at The Cocoon. "When you're in the zone, the game really slows down," Sánchez said when asked about his performance later. "I couldn't even tell you what pitches were thrown. Today feels great, but it is a long season and tomorrow is another day." For the day, he scored 3 times, drove in 7 runs and smacked 3 hits in 5 at-bats. Manny Sánchez hit a solo-shot off Jed Knight in the 2nd, struck out in the 3rd, grounded out in the 6th, hit a three-run home run off Manny González in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off Tucker Gross in the 8th. This year Sánchez is hitting .207 with 8 home runs. |
