Benas Booms 3 Homers
Sunday, July 11th , 2060
The old superstition that "bad news comes in threes" certainly came true for the Buckhead Bowties.
Toronto second baseman Fuzzy Benas tripled up on the home runs to propel the Thunder to a win, 7-3, at Thunder Field.
"We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn't come through," Buckhead manager Kerry Hofmeister said. "Benas hit the heck out of the ball."
In addition to the homers, Benas collected 3 hits in 4 at-bats, 4 RBIs and scored 3 runs.
"Easy swings get you home runs," he said after the game. "I kept telling myself not to press. They have to be nice and easy swings."
Fuzzy Benas grounded out in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Uhi Ahipene in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Uhi Ahipene in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Joe Proctor in the 8th.
Benas is currently batting .235 with 11 home runs, 27 RBIs and 24 runs scored. He has 39 hits in 166 at-bats.
