Thornton Named Top Reliever for SL Thursday, November 3rd , 2061 At the age of 25, David Thornton says he still has a lot to learn about life in United States Silver League. But he certainly seems to be a quick study, as the Memphis Mockingbirds reliever was better than all others this year and has captured the 2061 United States Silver League Reliever of the Year Award. "I hope to win this a few more times before all is said and done in my career," the Fremont, California native said. For the season, Thornton had 24 saves in 37 relief appearances, which totaled 45.1. He fanned 56 betters, while walking 18 and put up a record of 3-2 to go with his 1.39 ERA. Jorge Montoya of the Philadelphia Liberty finished second in voting, while Min Der of the Panama City Piranhas finished third. |
