Red-Hot Ibarra Scorches Leviathan
Saturday, June 3rd , 2062
It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-5 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Daniel Ibarra, it came around today.
The 26-year-old shortstop scattered hits all over The Dungeon in Halifax to pace the 12-1 Detroit Rock City victory over the Nova Scotia Leviathan.
Nova Scotia skipper Tyler Studebaker told reporters in the press room that "Ibarra deserves a hat-tip."
"He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Ibarra hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit."
Daniel Ibarra singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Anastasio Orozco in the 6th, singled in the 7th and walked in a run in the 9th.
In 24 games this season, Ibarra has compiled a .330 batting average with 35 hits and 2 home runs. He has also scored 17 times and knocked in 7 runs.
