Chen Belts 3 HR for Coeur
Tuesday, August 9th , 2061
St. Louis right fielder Chia-ch'ing Chen saw a fantastic day go to waste at 5 Paces Park as the Coeur lost, 11-8, despite a trio of home runs from the youngster.
"It seems kinda odd, you know?" a somewhat dejected Chen said after his club's defeat. "I mean, hitting three home runs in one game should be enough to win a game, right? I guess that's why they call it a team sport. Tomorrow I might strike out four times and other guys pick me up and we win. It takes more than one guy to get a win."
The 24-year-old tallied three homers in a 3-for-5 day, and added 5 RBIs and 3 scored.
"That guy really had a game, didn't he?" said Buckhead manager Kerry Hofmeister. "Luckily we were able to shut down the rest of the team. We are feeling good about getting out of here with the win."
Chia-ch'ing Chen struck out in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Edward Margaret in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Joe Proctor in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Joe Proctor in the 9th.
Chen is hitting .285 this year with 17 home runs, 38 RBIs and 29 runs scored. He has 57 hits in 200 at-bats, 24 walks and a .360 on-base percentage. Chen has played in 52 games.
