Gary Smith Injured, Out for Season Monday, August 8th , 2061 The season is finished for Gary Smith of the Montreal Machine. The club announced today that he will forego the rest of the year because of injury. The Machine starting pitcher suffered a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament while throwing a pitch in a recent game against the Sacramento Redlegs. Team doctors said it would take at least 10 months to heal. So far this year, Smith has made 12 starts, tossed 63.2 innings, struck out 45 batters and walked 23. His record is 4-5 with a 3.96 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .285 batting average. |
