Proctor Socks It to Sacramento 3 Times
Saturday, August 20th , 2061
Bakersfield Nobles shortstop Mark Proctor sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a little.
Prior to the start of today's contest with the Sacramento Redlegs, Proctor told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times.
"During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber."
The big day from Proctor pushed the Nobles past the Redlegs, 11-5. To go along with the homers, he collected 6 RBIs and scored 3 runs.
"I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Proctor told reporters after the game.
Mark Proctor struck out in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Mauro RamÃrez in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Bernardo Hernández in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off Jack Albert in the 8th.
Thus far this season, Proctor has hit .288 with 11 home runs, 25 RBIs and scored 16 times.
