Fowler Hammers 4 Homers Saturday, August 18th , 2063 Nothing could stop Mike Fowler -- certainly not the Asheville Highlanders pitching staff. The 26-year-old center fielder for the Providence Pilgrims sent 4 baseballs soaring out of Asheville Park and made his name a part of history. Behind his barrage, the Pilgrims earned a win, 7-0, over the Highlanders. "In the standings, a loss is just a loss, but this one was frustrating," Highlanders manager Chris Sanders said later. "He clobbered us." Fowler's dream game included 4 hits in 5 at-bats, 4 homers, 6 runs driven in and 4 runs scored. "I know all the stories are going to be about me today, and that's OK," Fowler told the press in the locker room after the game. "Next time, it'll be one of the other guys." Mike Fowler hit a two-run home run off Luis Villarreal in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Luis Villarreal in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Luis Villarreal in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Artie Morrow in the 7th and flied out in the 9th.
