Hernández Rocks Miners for 3 HRs Tuesday, September 24th , 2058 Asheville Highlanders third baseman Carlos Hernández had a magnificent game against the Marquette Miners, rocketing three balls out of Marquette Stadium to help the Highlanders win, 12-1. "I got some good pitches to hit and I creamed them," he said after the game. "The first was a big, fat fastball and the last two were hanging curves. All three were mistakes." For the game, Hernández went 3-for-4 with 5 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "There's a fine line between hitting home runs and line drives," Asheville manager Pancho Campos said later. "Seems like Carlos found his home run stroke today." Carlos Hernández struck out in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Trevor Covenay in the 4th, was hit by a pitch in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Paul Scott in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Tony O'Connor in the 8th. At the moment, Hernández is hitting .342 with 13 home runs and 36 RBIs. He has played in 83 games and scored 33 times. |
