Clerq Hit Streak Reaches 20 Games Sunday, September 4th , 2061 The number just keeps getting higher. Olympia right fielder Gisbert Clerq has now extended his hitting string to 20 games. He did it today with 3 hits in 4 at-bats as the Olympia won the game, 7-3, over the Ithaca Fighting Imps at The Ogre Den. "Who knows how long it will go on?" Ithaca manager Jeffrey Lewis said. "He's certainly tough to pitch to right now." Gisbert Clerq tripled in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Salvador Pérez in the 4th, singled in the 5th and flied out in the 7th. During the current season Clerq is batting at a .346 clip with 23 home runs and 64 RBIs. He has played in 85 games and scored 54 times. |
