Smith Shows Off, Hits for Cycle Friday, August 25th , 2062 John Smith truly did it all at Marquette Stadium. The Crescent City Krewe shortstop hit for the cycle -- collecting 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run -- as he paced his club to victory, 9-8, over the Marquette Miners. "You know that sweet sound you hear when you hit the ball just right? I heard that every time today," Smith said later. "It was a heck of a feeling." It was a game good enough for him to make a little history. He bombed Marquette pitching for 4 hits in 6 at-bats and his name will now go into the record books. Smith also racked up 4 runs batted in and 3 runs scored in the game. John Smith tripled in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, struck out in the 6th, hit a two-run home run off John Rutledge in the 8th, hit an RBI double in the 9th and hit an RBI single in the 11th.
