Peña Earns PA- Top Pitcher Trophy Saturday, July 1st , 2062 Vern Peña really put his best foot forward in June with 5 wins and no losses and walked off with the Pitcher of the Month honors in the USPL Low A. When he got the start for the Plattsburgh Puffer Fish, it was good news for his club, but bad news for the opposition. In 37 innings of work, Peña limited opposing batters to 30 base hits and a .219 batting average. He notched 24 strikeouts, issued 12 walks and had a 1.22 ERA. This season, Peña has compiled a 8-3 record with a 2.81 ERA in 11 starts. |
