Libbinga Packs a Wallop -- Hits 3 HR Against Puffer Fish Tuesday, May 9th , 2062 His swing was a thing of beauty. Three times Reginald Libbinga swung the bat and three times he delivered a home run. It was an awesome sight to behold at Ballpark of Albuquerque, but to no avail, for as good as he was, the Plattsburgh Puffer Fish were better. The Germantown Uruguayans couldn't capitalize on the big game from Libbinga and dropped the contest, 9-8. The mood in the Uruguayans clubhouse afterward was subdued, with several players remarking that they had allowed the Puffer Fish to spoil the day for Libbinga. "Some of the boys are beating themselves up about it," Germantown manager Jamie Scott said. "They know we win as a team and lose as a team, but it's hard to really put that idea into practice on a day when one of you was playing on such an obviously higher level." In addition to the homers, Libbinga collected 4 RBIs and scored 3 runs. "I got three pitches down the pipe and popped them," the Germantown left fielder told reporters. "Today I was in a groove. Tomorrow I could just pop the same pitches up and go 0-for-3." Reginald Libbinga hit a solo-shot off James O'Connor in the 2nd, struck out in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off James O'Connor in the 5th and hit a solo-shot off Carl Cook in the 8th. So far this season, Libbinga has recorded a .393 batting average with 11 hits, 3 home runs, 7 RBIs, 3 runs scored and a .393 OBP. |
