Robbie de Groot was a calming influence out of the Philadelphia Liberty U-21 bullpen this season.
His teammates and manager said he had a poised demeanor about him that was typical of someone much older and more experienced. His poise has paid off, as the 21-year-old turned in a sparkling season and has been named the winner of the USSL Low A Reliever of the Year Award for 2062.
The Princess Quarter, Sint Maarten native won the award with 32 saves in 45 relief appearances, 34 strikeouts in 50 innings and a record of 6-0 to go with his 0.90 ERA.
He received 10 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Clint Clifton of the Tijuana Toros finished second in voting, while Michael Duffy of the Tijuana Toros finished third.
