Machado and Villegas Suspended 5 Games Thursday, August 30th , 2063 You would have thought you were at a hockey game yesterday at The Igloo. A free-for-all broke out when Pedro Machado of Tijuana and Gustavo Villegas of Ellesmere Island rushed one another on the field and had to be restrained by umpires and teammates. Few blows landed, but it was enough for them to be ejected from the game. Today both teams received notification from the league office that the two players would be suspended for 5 games. In 54 games Machado is hitting .256 this season with 44 hits, 4 home runs, 26 RBIs, 21 walks, .343 OBP and has scored 19 runs. In 8 starts this season, Villegas has compiled a 1-5 record and a 5.34 ERA. |
