SMSL Names Veeneman Pitcher of the Year Award Winner Monday, September 17th , 2063 Barend Veeneman of the Mockingbirds humbled hitters all season long and today celebrated as he hauled in the USSL Mexican Summer League Pitcher of the Year trophy, the coveted Pitcher of the Year Award. The MSL Memphis hurler held opposing hitters to a .235 batting average while putting up a 9-3 record and a 2.23 earned run average. He started 16 games, pitched 113 innings and struck out 88. He received 6 first place votes out of a possible 10. Cisco Solís of the MSL St. Louis Coeur finished second in voting with 3 first place votes, while Peter Wells of the MSL Panama City Piranhas finished third with 1 first place vote.
